Our Board of Directors

Get to know the leaders of  Habitat for Humanity of Lawrence County. Learn about their vision of a simple, decent home for everyone in Lawrence County.

The Board of Directors includes community members from business, faith and service organizations. All members are volunteers.

They accept responsibility for:

  • The financial health of Lawrence County Habitat
  • Establishment and pursuit of the Lawrence County Habitat mission
  • Ethical conduct of the organization's leadership and staff.

They love their work! They represent Lawrence County Habitat everywhere they go. They are constantly educating others about their dream to eliminate substandard housing in Lawrence County.

Deborah Hazen is our current Board President. She is a staff accountant who has been involved with Lawrence County Habitat for about 4 years. Deborah chooses to volunteer with Habitat for Humanity because she really believes in the mission and gets to meet the families she is helping.

Mindy Stancombe is also an accountant and has been with Lawrence County Habitat 2 years. She likes that Habitat helps families who might otherwise never be able to have a home of their own.

Bob Wakefield is a retired school teacher who has been on the Lawrence County Habitat Board for 2 years. He also serves on the Construction Committee. He got involved with Habitat after retiring because he enjoys woodworking and building. Bob's parents, and brother, sister-in-law, and wife have been involved with Habitat for Humanity also.

Brian Eagans is the store manager at Lowes. He has been involved with Lawrence County Habitat for about 2 years because he likes to give back to the community. Brian is married, has 3 sons, and also volunteers with Mitchell Biddy Basketball.

Ken Phillips is a contractor who owns Premier Remodeling Inc. He is also on the construction committee. He has volunteered with Habitat for about 2 years. Kens brings a lot of expertise to the board.

Jon Appleby is a retired accountant who has been involved with Lawrence County Habitat for Humanity for 3-4 years. He had worked out of town a lot and was looking for local volunteer opportunities after retirement. He was encouraged by an acquaintance who is a former board member to check out Lawrence County Habitat for Humanity Board.

Bob Ball is recently retired from the Avoca State Fish Hatchery. He enjoys helping people and construction so volunteering for Lawrence County Habitat for Humanity is a good choice for him.
