	Women Build is not about excluding men; it's about including women, giving them confidence and skills needed to effectively contribute to Habitat's mission of eliminating substandard housing for partner families.
	Lowe's is a national partner with Habitat for Humanity International and is the underwriter of the Women Build program. Lowe's offers in-store "How-To" clinics for women volunteers, giving them confidence and skills to lay bricks, pound nails, raise walls and create hope for families in their communities.
	National Women Build Week, sponsored annually by Lowe's, challenges women from all walks of life to help eliminate substandard housing. Each May, during the days leading up to Mother's Day, thousands of women volunteers join in Women Build days at Habitat affiliates.

Our History

• 1998 - Women Build bacame an official Habitat for Humanity department.
• 1999 - "First Ladies Build" initiated with women construction crews led by current and former first ladies and governors.
• 2003 - Lowe's signed on as a Women Build's underwriter.
• 2008 - First National Women Build Week sponsored by Lowe's. Over 1500 homes constructed by women nationwide.
• 2008 - Lawrence County Habitat Women Build was established. 1st project was landscaping the Vatne home on Riley Blvd.
• 2008 - First Women Build class at Lowe's in Bedford.
• 2009 - Remodeled Lawrence County Habitat for Humanity office.
• 2009 - Laid foundation and worked on Sowders home.
• 2010 - Lafayette - Help build home and coordination of Habitat for Humanity International Women Build Team.
